Art: 21 Art in the Twenty-First Century

Now in its fifth season, the groundbreaking PBS series Art:21 -- Art in the Twenty-First Century provides a behind the scenes view of a diverse range of contemporary artists. Viewers observe intimate footage of artists at work in their homes, studios and communities and speaking in their own words about their practice.

The featured artists, including painters, photographers, sculptors, performance and video artists, represent the breadth of current artistic practice and demonstrate the relevance of contemporary art to everyday life. 

Season 2

As in the previous season, Season 2 features celebrity hosts who introduce each episode along with original introductory scenes by filmmaker and artist Charles Atlas

January 29 Episode 1 - Stories

Introduction by John Waters. Featuring artists Kara Walker, Kiki Smith, Do-Ho Suh and Trenton Doyle Hancock.

February 5 Episode 2 - Loss and Desire

Introduction by Jane Alexander. Featuring artists Collier Schorr, Gabriel Orozco and Janine Antoni.

February 12 Episode 3 - Time

Introduction by Merce Cunningham. Featuring artists Martin Puryear, Paul Pfeiffer, Vika Celmins and Tim Hawkinson.

February 19 Episode 4 - Humour

Introduction by Margaret Cho. Featuring artists Elanor Antin, Raymond Pettibon, Elizabeth Murray and Walton Ford.

Season 3

In addition to the featured artists, the episodes in Season 3 conclude with an original video work by artists Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler.
