J.E.H. MacDonald, Lewis Smith and Edith Smith in Nova Scotia

An exhibition of over seventy paintings and oil sketches produced by the Group of Seven artist J.E.H. MacDonald during his visits to Nova Scotia in 1898 and 1922. Included in the show are related works by the Halifax painters Lewis Smith and his sister Edith who were MacDonald’s friends and his hosts during the Nova Scotia trips. Organized by the Dalhousie Art Gallery and curated by Gemey Kelly. Funding for exhibition research, production and documentation was received from the Museum Assistance Program of Communications Canada with additional funding from the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture, Petro-Canada Inc., and Miss Zilpha Linkletter.
