On Tour

Martha Wilson: Staging the Self at Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery, Concordia University, Montréal

6 January – 19 February, 2011

Martha Wilson, Posturing: Male Impersonator (Butch), 1973

Initially curated by Peter Dykhuis for the Dalhousie Art Gallery in 2009, the exhibition weaves together the multiple layers of Wilson’s practice as a pioneering feminist artist from her time in Halifax in the early 1970s through to the present where she is the Director of Franklin Furnace Archives Inc. in New York City, the current manifestation of the artist-run centre that she founded in 1976 and administered until 1996. The exhibition tour is organized by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York.
