Urban Images

This fascinating collection of approximately fifty works covers over 200 years of urban imagery in Canadian painting. It contains one of the earliest known paintings of a Canadian city- a view of Halifax by Dominic Serres, c. 1760. In addition to providing an historic survey, it features works by contemporary artists such as Christopher Pratt, Greg Curnoe, Christiane Pflug and Goodridge Roberts. The exhibition was curated by Dorothy Farr and circulated by the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Kingston, with a grant from the National Museums Assistance Program.
