Wes At Five
Wes at Five
Atlantic Film Festival/Dalhousie Art Gallery Annual Collaboration
With only seven features to his credit, Wes Anderson has already established himself as a visionary director with an original, absolutely unique cinematic voice. Blending humour, lyricism and absurdity, the American filmmaker has charted out a body of work that has attracted both cult and mainstream audiences alike. Often featuring an eager company of actors known for their deadpan finesse (Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman), Anderson’s films bear repeated viewing. We are thrilled to be able to present his entire body of work at 5 PM screening times during the Atlantic Film Festival.

Monday 16 September - The Darjeeling Limited
Wes Anderson, USA, 2007, 91 minutes. Three squabbling American brothers on a train trip across India provide the atypical plot focus for Anderson’s fifth feature, a gently humorous film about family reconciliation amidst the wonder of an unknown culture.
Tuesday 17 September - The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Wes Anderson, USA, 2009, 87 minutes. A stop motion animation film with the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep, Mr. Fox takes Anderson’s vision beyond naturalistic drama into a cinematic world where irony operates on an entirely different level.
Wednesday 18 September - Moonlight Kingdom
Wes Anderson, USA, 2012, 94 minutes. A film about summer camp runaways becomes an adventure story like no other in Anderson’s latest film, starring Bill Murray, Bruce Willis and an unforgettable bunch of kids amidst some ravishing New England landscapes.
