Reception for Alan Syliboy: The Journey So Far | A Retrospective

Please join us on June 20th to celebrate Alan Syliboy's major retrospective at Dalhousie Art Gallery, The Journey So Far.
 
The Journey So Far features fifty years of art by the renowned Mi'kmaw artist. Curated by Director/Curator Pamela Edmonds, the exhibition showcases Syliboy's diverse works, from early drawings to animations. The exhibition also features a specially commissioned mural and a selection of works from the collection of Marcia Hennessy, a long-time supporter of Syliboy's practice.

Audio Tour: As We Rise & Family Matters

Join us for an audio-based tour of Dalhousie Art Gallery's current exhibitions, As We Rise: Photography from the Black Atlantic and Allen D. Crooks: Family Matters.

Intended for Blind and partially sighted visitors, participants will circulate through the exhibitions while listening to audio descriptions of select artworks. Tactile models of the Gallery will also be available.

DAG x CRWR at Nocturne 2023

Students and faculty from Dalhousie's Creative Writing Program will be lead attendees through a series of meditative creative writing prompts that engage with Sameer Farooq's exhibition "The Fairest Order in the World," and the questions the works prompt regarding our relationships to objects, collections, belonging, and possession.

Join us for the opening reception of The Fairest Order in the World. The artist and curator will be in attendance to lead an introductory exhibition tour, and the event will feature a movement activation by Sarah Prosper in collaboration with Sameer Farooq. Opening remarks will begin at 5:30 pm.

The event is free to attend and is open to the public.
