Dust Disruptors: Stray Hair
With Nocturne 2021, Kim Morgan will be debuting Stray Hair, the first installation of her ongoing Dust Disruptors project: an open-ended series of performative inflatable objects of varying forms and sizes constructed out of Silpoly fabric printed with enlarged scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. The images are derived from dust and ash samples taken from human bodies and their immediate environment.
On the Wings of a Butterfly: Discussing the Work of Mike MacDonald, Wild Pollinators, Ecology and Art
Join MSVU Art Gallery Director, Laura Ritchie, in conversation with Lindsay Dobbin, Frances Dorsey, Robin Metcalfe, Lisa Myers, and Michelle Sylliboy about the work of late Mi'kmaq artist Mike MacDonald (1941-2006). A Queer media artist, MacDonald is remembered in part for his environmental work planting pollinator gardens across Canada. His 1994 butterfly garden on the Mount Saint Vincent University campus in K'jipuktuk (Halifax) continues to serve as a point of connection between artists and curators exploring ecology and art today.

EGG ROLL SO-SHOLL
You’re invited to an… EGG ROLL SO-SHOLL!!!
Not all egg rolls are alike and no other egg roll is quite like the Nova Scotian Egg Roll. While the exterior may look similar to its vegetable filled cousin, the filling of the NSER consists of stir-fried meat, processed into a paste—and you either love them or hate them.
For those who love them, or are looking to give them another try, join us for a taste testing* where we’ll be sampling rolls from various local restaurants and discussing people, food, and the evolution of an egg roll.
